Brief Bio

I am a Professor Emeritus in the Psychology Department at the University of West Florida specializing in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. During my time at the university I am proud to have taught (and sometimes mentored) students who have become quite successful in their careers in both academic and applied settings. I have also enjoyed working on research projects with many students and colleagues which have resulted in the publication of over 70 articles.

Much of my research has revolved around the construct of boredom (and boredom proneness). Other research interests include EEO law, ageism, and workaholism.

Research Publications

I have also been fortunate to have taught abroad in Ireland for a semester (University College Cork), Thailand (Chulalonhorn University in Bangkok; twice), and France (twice; in the Village of Pontlevoy and Montrichard) as part of a study abroad program. Each was a great learning experience (see links below)

I have consulted with many organizations, primarily in the area of human resource management (e.g., job analysis, performance appraisal, training, test development) through my consulting firm of Vodanovich & Associates. This work allowed me to stay current in the application of psychology to workplace issues.  An added advantage was that my consuting work resulted in the hiring of many master's students on projects where they gained critical experience performing I-O-related tasks.
